Test Trim Colors with Different Materials

Previewing Trim Colors

Smithing templates can be applied with different materials, each producing a unique trim color. The Smithing Template Viewer lets you experiment with all available material colors instantly.

Steps

1. Open a smithing template preview in JEI or EMI

2. Locate the material/color selector in the interface

3. Click through different materials (copper, iron, lapis, emerald, diamond, etc.) to see how each changes the trim color

4. Note which colors appeal to you

5. Once you've decided, you'll know exactly which material to use when you craft

Finding Your Style

Some trims look better in certain colors—for example, emerald creates a green tint, while lapis produces blue. Testing all options helps you coordinate your armor with your build aesthetic or personal preference. Since the viewer shows colors in real-time on your character model, you get an accurate preview of how the finished armor will actually look in-game.
