Apply Smelting Touch to Your Tools

Getting the Enchantment

Smelting Touch is an enchantment with the same rarity as Silk Touch. You can obtain it through:

  • Enchanting table: Use lapis lazuli and experience levels to enchant tools at an enchanting table. You may need multiple attempts to get Smelting Touch specifically.
  • Loot chests: Find it in dungeon, temple, or other generated loot chests throughout your world.
  • Trading: Some villages may offer enchanted books containing Smelting Touch.
  • Anvil combination: If you have an enchanted book with Smelting Touch, place it on an anvil with your tool and lapis lazuli to apply it.

Applying to Tools

Smelting Touch can be applied to any tool — pickaxes, axes, shovels, and hoes all work. Once applied, that tool will automatically smelt blocks as you mine them. This means ore drops ingots instead of raw ore, and clay blocks drop bricks instead of clay balls.

Note that Smelting Touch and Silk Touch are mutually exclusive; you cannot have both on the same tool.
