Smarter Farmers: How Farmer Villagers Work

What the Mod Changes

In vanilla Minecraft, farmer villagers harvest mature crops but often leave the farmland empty, so fields slowly stop producing. Smarter Farmers fixes this by making farmers replant the matching seed immediately after every harvest. The crop that was broken is replaced with the same type of seed, keeping the field in continuous production.

Farmers also look for nearby empty farmland and plant seeds directly from their own inventory. This means they expand planting beyond the crops they just harvested, using whatever seeds they are carrying.

While working, farmers hold a hoe in their hands, making it visually clear they are tending the fields. They also avoid trampling the plants beneath their feet, so crops are not destroyed as villagers move around the farm.

Together these changes keep village farms productive without manual replanting by the player.
