How to Build a 1×2 Nether Portal (Smallest Possible)
Frame Layout
The 1×2 portal is the smallest working portal in this mod. You need a frame of obsidian surrounding a 1-block-wide, 2-block-tall opening.
1. Place two obsidian blocks side by side on the ground — these form the bottom of the frame.
2. On the left block, stack two more obsidian vertically.
3. On the right block, stack two more obsidian vertically.
4. Cap the top with two obsidian blocks connecting the two columns.
The interior opening is 1 wide and 2 tall. Light it with flint and steel as usual.
Corner Blocks Are Optional
Unlike vanilla portals, this mod lets you skip the four corner obsidian blocks. A diamond-shaped frame (top, bottom, left, right, with open corners) still activates. This saves obsidian, which matters early-game when you have limited resources.
Teleporting Safely
When you step through, the mod checks the destination. If the arrival point would put you under the portal or inside solid blocks like netherrack or soul sand, it replaces those blocks with obsidian and shifts you in front of the portal instead. You should not need to dig yourself out. If you still end up stuck, break the block directly above your head first.
