Fixing the Bug Where You Spawn Underneath a Small Portal

Why It Happens

Vanilla Minecraft assumes portals are at least 2×3. When you use a 1×2, 1×3, or 2×2 portal, the game calculates the exit position incorrectly and places you inside or below the destination portal frame. This mod patches that behavior.

What the Mod Does Automatically

On arrival, the mod inspects the blocks beneath the exit point. If it finds netherrack, soul sand, or air, it replaces them with obsidian. It also carves out an air gap if the space is blocked. You are then placed in front of the portal rather than inside it.

If You Still Get Stuck

Rarely, terrain generation or another mod may interfere. If you spawn inside solid blocks:

1. Do not panic — you usually have a moment before suffocation damage.

2. Break the block directly in front of you first, then the one above.

3. Move forward out of the portal frame.

4. Once clear, place a torch and check your coordinates.

If this happens repeatedly at the same portal, rebuild the destination-side frame one block higher so the arrival space is clear. Keeping a pickaxe in your hotbar when using small portals is a good habit.
