Make the Crosshair More Visible in Bright Environments
The Visibility Problem
Small, thin crosshairs can disappear against bright skies or light-colored blocks, making aiming difficult during daytime or in snowy biomes.
Increasing Contrast
Edit the crosshair texture file in an image editor:
- Add a contrasting outline: Draw a thin border around the X in a dark color (black or dark gray) to make it stand out against light backgrounds
- Increase opacity: Ensure the crosshair is fully opaque rather than semi-transparent
- Use a two-tone design: Make the center bright and the edges dark, or vice versa, so it's visible on any background
Alternative: Add a Subtle Background
Some players add a small, semi-transparent circle or square behind the X to provide a neutral backdrop. This keeps the crosshair minimal while improving visibility.
Testing
After editing, test your changes in various environments: bright daylight, caves, snow biomes, and forests. Adjust the outline thickness or background size until the crosshair remains clearly visible without becoming distracting.
