Customize the Crosshair Size and Color

Locating the Crosshair Texture File

The crosshair appearance is controlled by texture files within the resource pack. Navigate to the resource pack folder and open the assets/minecraft/textures/gui/ directory. Look for files related to the crosshair—typically named something like crosshair.png or similar.

Editing the Crosshair

Open the crosshair texture file in an image editor (Photoshop, GIMP, or even Paint.NET). You can:

  • Resize the X shape by scaling the image up or down, then saving at the same resolution
  • Change the color by adjusting the hue, saturation, or applying a color overlay
  • Adjust thickness by modifying the line weight of the X
  • Add transparency to make it blend better with your environment

Save your changes and reload the resource pack in-game. The new crosshair will appear immediately without restarting Minecraft.

Testing Your Changes

Enter a world and look at various backgrounds—bright skies, dark caves, and detailed terrain—to ensure your custom crosshair remains visible and comfortable to use in all lighting conditions.
