Troubleshoot Blurry or Over-Smoothed Visuals

Identifying Over-Smoothing

If your world looks blurry or textures appear washed out after enabling SMAA, the filter intensity is likely too high. SMAA should sharpen edges without softening fine detail.

Reducing Filter Strength

Return to your shader options (Shift + O) and locate the SMAA intensity or quality slider. Lower it incrementally and check the result in-game. The goal is clean block edges without loss of texture clarity.

Disabling Conflicting Settings

If you're using other anti-aliasing methods (like FXAA or TAA from another shader), disable those first. Running multiple smoothing filters together causes blur and performance issues. SMAA works best as your only edge-smoothing tool.

Testing Different Presets

If your shader offers multiple SMAA modes, try switching between them. The 1x preset is designed to be sharp and fast; higher modes may blur more. Revert to 1x if you prefer crispness over maximum smoothing.
