Increase Gamma to See in Complete Darkness
Understanding Gamma Adjustment
Gamma controls overall brightness and contrast. Slyde Mod removes Minecraft's gamma cap, letting you see clearly in dark caves and at night without torches.
Steps to Boost Gamma
1. Open your mod settings menu
2. Find the Gamma option (separate from brightness slider)
3. Input a higher value than the standard maximum
4. Save and return to your world
Practical Considerations
- Higher gamma makes dark areas visible but flattens contrast and can wash out colors
- Extremely high gamma may cause eye strain and makes the game look washed out
- This is useful for mining or exploring without lighting, but reduces atmosphere
- Gamma changes apply globally—you cannot toggle it per-dimension easily
- On servers, extreme gamma may be considered cheating; check server rules before using in multiplayer
