Optimize Performance on Lower-End Hardware
Reduce Core Visual Features
Start by lowering shadow quality and distance—these consume the most resources. In shader settings, find shadow-related sliders and reduce them incrementally. Next, disable or reduce subsurface scattering (light passing through leaves and mobs), which is computationally expensive.
Disable Reflections
If available, turn off reflection effects on water and other materials. This feature, while visually striking, significantly impacts frame rates on weaker GPUs.
Lower Render Distance
Reduce your render distance in Video Settings. This limits how far shadows and shader effects are calculated, freeing up processing power.
Monitor Frame Rate
Use F3 debug screen to watch your FPS while making changes. Aim for a stable frame rate by testing in demanding areas (dense forests, large water bodies). Make one change at a time so you know which setting helps most.
Accept Trade-offs
Slight Shaders is designed for smooth gameplay, but some visual features may need reduction on older hardware. Prioritize the effects you value most.
