Stack Blocks Downward from Slab-Placed Items

Understanding Vertical Stacking

The Slabbed Mod allows you to place blocks on top of items that are already sitting on slabs. This creates opportunities for building structures that extend both upward and downward from your slab surface.

Building Downward Structures

Place an item (like a chest or lantern) on a slab, then position blocks on top of it. You can then place additional blocks beneath those, creating a chain of blocks that extends downward from your slab level. This is useful for:

  • Creating decorative pillars that start mid-height
  • Building complex multi-level storage systems
  • Designing architectural features with precise height control

Maintaining Block Alignment

The mod locks each block's position, so your stacked arrangement stays intact even when you modify nearby blocks. This means you can safely build around your slab-based structures without worrying about items shifting or floating.

Practical Applications

Combine downward stacking with upward placement to create intricate decorative columns, shelving units, or functional storage towers that would look awkward or impossible in vanilla Minecraft.
