Survive Your First Night on the Grid
Immediate Priorities
When you spawn, you're vulnerable and exposed. Your first goal is to secure a safe platform and gather basic materials before darkness falls.
1. Locate nearby blocks – Look around your spawn point and identify the closest resource blocks within jumping distance. Prioritize wood if available, as it's essential for crafting.
2. Build a small platform – Create a connected area of blocks around your spawn to give yourself stable footing and prevent accidental falls into the void.
3. Craft basic tools – Use wood to make a crafting table and wooden tools. Even basic pickaxes let you mine stone and ore more efficiently.
4. Gather stone – Mine stone blocks to upgrade your tools and build more durable structures.
5. Create a shelter – Build a small enclosed space or roofed platform where mobs cannot reach you. Height helps—place your shelter several blocks up if possible.
6. Make a bed – If wool and string are accessible, craft a bed to set your spawn point and skip future nights.
Managing Fall Risk
The void is always below you. Stay aware of block edges, and consider building railings or walls around your work areas to prevent fatal mistakes when you're tired or distracted.
