Gather Resources and Plan Your First Bridge

Mine Below Your Island

Dig down into your starting island to find ores and stone. You'll need wood, stone, and dirt for your first bridge. Be careful not to dig too deep—you want to stay above the void. Mark your mine entrance so you can return easily.

Collect Wood and Craft Planks

Break trees on your island and convert logs into planks. You'll need planks for tools, crafting tables, and bridge supports. Gather more wood than you think you need—bridge building consumes materials quickly.

Identify Your Next Target Island

Look around and choose a nearby island that appears reachable. Closer islands with visible resources are better first targets than distant ones. Avoid the Nether portal island until you have better equipment.

Build Your Bridge

Start from your island's edge and build a path of blocks toward your target. Make it at least two blocks wide for safety. Place blocks carefully—falling into the void means losing all your items. Build slowly and test each section before moving forward.
