How to Use Transparent Parts (Glasses, Visors) With Skin Layers 3D
Why Transparency Matters Here
Skin Layers 3D renders the outer skin layer as actual geometry, so transparent pixels become empty space instead of a flat cutout. That is what lets glasses, goggles, and visor frames look like real objects floating in front of the face rather than a painted-on decal.
Design the Transparent Region
In your skin editor, work on the hat layer (the outer head overlay):
1. Draw the frame of your glasses or visor with fully opaque pixels.
2. Leave the lens area fully transparent so the eyes and base face show through.
3. Keep the frame at least a couple of pixels thick so the 3D extrusion has something to grab onto.
4. If you want tinted lenses, use a semi-transparent color instead of full transparency.
Watch the Offset
Because the outer layer sits slightly outside the base model, transparent holes will reveal the base face underneath with a small gap. This is normal and is what sells the floating-glasses look. If the gap bothers you, thicken the frame or shift the design inward by a pixel.
Check From Distance
Remember the mod falls back to flat 2D rendering when players are far away. At that distance your transparent lens area will simply show the base skin, which is usually fine, but verify it does not look like a hole in the face from across the room.
