How to Fix Crashes When a Fabric Mod Won't Load on Forge with Connector
Read the Crash Report First
When a Fabric mod fails under Connector, the crash report or log usually names the mod and the class that failed. Look for the mod ID in the stack trace and note whether the failure happens during loading, during mixin application, or at runtime. Loading-stage failures often mean a missing dependency; mixin failures usually mean the mod hooks into Fabric internals that Connector cannot translate.
Common Fixes to Try
Check that every Fabric library the mod depends on is present in the mods folder. Missing Fabric library mods are the most frequent cause of load failures. If the mod bundles its own copy of a library that Connector also provides, remove the duplicate. For mixin-related crashes, check whether the mod's documentation mentions Forge or Connector support — some Fabric mods ship a separate Forge build, and using that build instead avoids the translation layer entirely.
When to Give Up on a Mod
Some Fabric mods simply cannot run through Connector. Mods that replace core Fabric rendering, networking, or event systems, or that mixin heavily into Fabric API classes, tend to break. If removing the mod fixes the crash and no configuration change helps, treat it as unsupported. Keep a list of Fabric mods that work in your pack so you can re-add them after updates without repeating the debugging process.
