How to Tell Whether Simple Weather Mod Is Actually Working
The visual test
Because this mod is purely cosmetic, there is no new block, item, or command to check. The only reliable verification is your eyes. Trigger rain with the vanilla weather command and step outside. With the mod active, you should see discrete falling streaks or flakes rather than a uniform grey film over the screen. The single clearest tell: move your camera side to side. Vanilla's flat rain layer moves with your view like a filter; particle rain stays anchored in the world.
If it looks unchanged
- Confirm the mod is loaded for the correct game instance. A cosmetic mod that fails to load produces no error — the game simply looks vanilla.
- Check for a conflicting weather mod. Two mods that both replace the rain renderer will fight, and whichever loads later usually wins. Remove or disable the other one.
- Look at your video settings for anything that suppresses weather rendering, such as reduced particles or a weather-off option added by another mod.
- Test in a fresh world with clear skies first, then use the weather command. Testing during an existing storm makes it harder to judge the before-and-after.
- Compare a screenshot taken before installing with one taken now, under the same biome and time of day. Side-by-side comparison is far more convincing than memory.
