How to Set Up Push-to-Talk vs Voice Activation
Choosing Your Microphone Mode
Open the voice chat settings by pressing V, then click the settings/gear button. Look for the microphone activation option. You will typically see two modes: Voice Activation (the mic opens automatically when it detects sound) and Push-to-Talk (the mic only opens while you hold a key).
If you pick Push-to-Talk, a keybind field appears. Click it and press the key you want to use. Avoid keys already used by movement or inventory so you do not trigger both actions at once. If you pick Voice Activation, a sensitivity slider becomes available.
Tuning Voice Activation
Voice Activation is convenient but picks up background noise. Lower the sensitivity threshold until the mic stops opening on its own, then speak normally to confirm it still triggers. If your mic keeps activating from keyboard clicks or fans, raise the threshold or switch to Push-to-Talk.
Testing
Join with another player nearby and talk. The on-screen indicator (a small mic icon near the speaker) shows when you are transmitting. If nobody hears you, check that you are not muted (the mute toggle is in the same V menu) and that your input device is selected correctly in the audio settings tab. Push-to-Talk is the safer choice on noisy setups or public servers.
