Setting Up a Mining Camp in Underground Shelters

Using Pre-Built Shelters

When you discover an underground shelter or campsite, you can repurpose it as a temporary mining base. These structures come equipped with basic amenities like crafting tables and wooden chests, giving you immediate access to crafting and storage without building from scratch.

Expanding Your Camp

Add your own blocks and furniture to make the shelter more functional. Place additional chests for ore storage, set up furnaces for smelting, and add beds if you plan extended mining sessions. Use the existing structure's walls and layout as a foundation—most shelters have solid construction that's safe from cave-ins.

Stocking Supplies

Leave valuable tools, food, and torches in the shelter's chests for future visits. This way, if you die while mining nearby, you won't lose everything. The shelter's central location in cave systems makes it an ideal waypoint between your main base and deep mining operations.
