Navigating Hazardous Cave Features
Identifying Natural Hazards
Structures often sit near lava cracks, underground lakes, and water features. Before entering a structure, scan the surrounding area for flowing lava or deep water pools. These hazards can trap you or cause unexpected damage if you're not paying attention.
Safe Passage Techniques
Bring water buckets to extinguish lava or create temporary bridges across lava flows. For water hazards, use blocks to create stepping stones or swim carefully while watching your air supply. Avoid jumping between structures if there's lava or deep water below—take the long route around instead.
Preparing for Ice Caves
Ice cave variants present slippery surfaces and reduced visibility. Wear boots with Frost Walker enchantment if available, or place blocks to create stable footing. Bring extra torches since ice caves can be darker than standard caves. Watch for hidden drops beneath ice—probe ahead with a block before advancing.
