How to Relay Minecraft Chat to Discord and Back
Understanding the Relay Direction
Simple Discord Link relays messages both ways: Minecraft chat goes to a Discord channel, and Discord messages come back into Minecraft chat. This is the core feature most players want, and it works as soon as the bot is linked and the channel is configured. No extra commands are needed for basic relay.
Checking the Format
Messages arriving in Discord are usually shown with the Minecraft username attached so Discord users know who spoke. Messages coming from Discord into Minecraft are prefixed to show they originated outside the game. If you want to change how these look, edit the chat format strings in the config file. Keep placeholders like the player name and message body intact so the mod can substitute them correctly.
Troubleshooting Missing Messages
If Minecraft chat is not reaching Discord, confirm the bot has Send Messages permission in that channel. If Discord messages are not reaching Minecraft, confirm the bot has Read Message History and that the channel is the one set in config. Also check that the mod is not filtering the channel — some setups ignore bot messages or specific channels. Restart the server after any config change, since the bot reads settings at startup.
