Prevent Items from Being Lost in Lava

How Death Chests Protect Items

When you die—whether from lava, fire, or any other cause—the mod immediately creates a chest at your death location containing your entire inventory. This prevents items from burning up or despawning in dangerous environments.

Using Death Chests for Safety

1. Explore dangerous areas like lava lakes or nether fortresses

2. If you die in lava or fire, your items are automatically saved in a chest

3. Return to retrieve them without worrying about fire damage or despawn timers

4. Collect your items at your own pace

Best Practices

While death chests provide protection, avoid dying repeatedly in the same lava pool—you'll create multiple chests. Instead, use the mod as a safety net while exploring risky biomes. Keep valuable items in your base when not actively using them, and consider carrying backup tools when venturing into hazardous areas.

The death chest spawns above lava, so you can safely retrieve your items even if you died in a lava pool.
