How to Restore a World from a Simple Backups Backup

Locating Your Backups

All backups live in the simplebackups folder inside your Minecraft instance directory. Open it and you will see one subfolder per backup, usually named with a timestamp so you can identify the newest and oldest entries. Pick the snapshot taken closest to the point before your world broke.

Restoring the World

1. Close Minecraft completely so no process is holding the world files.

2. Open your instance's saves folder and find the folder for the affected world.

3. Rename or move that folder somewhere safe as a precaution — do not delete it yet.

4. Copy the chosen backup folder's contents into saves, giving it the same name your world originally used.

5. Launch the game and load the world to confirm it opens correctly.

After Restoring

Once the world loads, you can delete the old broken save if you no longer need it. Keep in mind that anything built or changed after the backup's timestamp will be gone, so pick the most recent working snapshot. If you restore often, consider shortening the backup interval in the config so you lose less progress between snapshots.
