How to Manually Trigger a Backup in Simple Backups Mod

Using the In-Game Command

Simple Backups registers a command you can run from the chat window to force a backup immediately instead of waiting for the timer. Type the mod's backup command (check the mod's command list with the help command if you forget the exact syntax) and press Enter. The game will begin copying your world in the background. Because the process runs asynchronously, you can keep playing while it works.

What Happens During a Manual Backup

When you trigger a backup, the mod copies your current world save into the simplebackups folder inside your instance directory. Each backup is stored as its own timestamped entry so you can tell them apart. A notification appears in chat when the copy finishes successfully. If the world is large, expect a short delay before the confirmation shows up.

When to Back Up Manually

Manual backups are useful right before risky actions: installing or removing mods, editing configs, exploring new dimensions, or fighting a boss. If something goes wrong, you can restore from that snapshot. Remember that manual backups still count toward your configured backup count and folder size limit, so very frequent manual backups may push out older automatic ones.
