How to Configure Simple Backups Mod (Interval, Backup Count, and Size Limit)
Finding and Editing the Config File
Simple Backups stores its settings in a config file inside your Minecraft instance. Navigate to your instance folder, open the config directory, and locate simplebackups-common.toml. Open it with any plain text editor. Inside you will find options controlling how often backups run, how many are kept, and how much disk space they may occupy. Change a value, save the file, and restart the game for the new settings to take effect.
Key Settings Explained
- Backup interval: Measured in minutes. Lower values mean more frequent snapshots but more disk activity. The default is a fairly long interval, so shorten it if you play long sessions.
- Maximum number of backups: Once this count is reached, the oldest backup is removed to make room for the newest one. Raise it if you want a longer history.
- Maximum folder size: A cap on the total size of the backup folder. When exceeded, older backups are deleted automatically. Increase it if you keep many large worlds.
Verifying Your Changes
Watch for the in-game notification confirming success, then open the simplebackups folder in your instance directory to confirm new files appear and old ones rotate out as expected.
