Toggling the Armor HUD On and Off When You Do Not Need It
Sometimes the overlay is just noise — during building, redstone work, or when you are recording and want a clean screen. The mod is designed to be toggled rather than uninstalled, so you can hide it temporarily and bring it back the moment you head into danger.
Hiding the Overlay
Open the Simple Armor Hud config through your mods list or config menu. Look for the master visibility option and switch it off. The armor icons and durability readouts disappear from the HUD immediately. If your build assigns a keybind to the toggle, you can bind a key and flip it on the fly without opening any menu — check your Controls screen for an entry related to the mod and assign something you will not press by accident.
When to Bring It Back
Re-enable the overlay before any activity where armor degradation is likely: exploring caves, fighting mobs, or traveling through hazardous terrain. A good habit is to toggle it on whenever you equip a fresh set and off again once you are back at base doing safe work. If you forget the keybind, the config toggle always works. Note that hiding the HUD does not stop the mod from tracking durability — it only stops it drawing on screen, so nothing is lost by turning it off.
