Set Up Your First Budding Amethyst Farm

Finding and Harvesting Budding Amethyst

Locate an amethyst geode in a cave or underground. Use a pickaxe enchanted with Silk Touch to mine the budding amethyst blocks—these are the purple blocks without visible crystals growing on them. Regular pickaxes will destroy them without dropping anything, so Silk Touch is essential.

Building Your Farm

Choose a location near your base with good lighting and space. Place your collected budding amethyst blocks in a grid pattern, leaving room to walk between them. Budding amethyst will naturally grow amethyst crystals on its exposed faces over time, regardless of light level.

Ensure the blocks are placed on solid ground or supported surfaces. You can stack them vertically or arrange them horizontally—both work equally well. Leave at least one block of space between budding amethyst blocks and walls so crystals can grow on all sides.

Harvesting Crystals

Once crystals have grown to full size, mine them with any pickaxe (no Silk Touch needed). The budding amethyst block remains and will continue growing new crystals. Check your farm periodically and harvest fully-grown crystals to prevent them from breaking off naturally.
