Silk Mod: A Developer Library, Not a Gameplay Mod

What Silk Mod Actually Does

Silk Mod is not a content mod you install to get new blocks, mobs, or items. It is a Kotlin-based API library for Fabric, Quilt, and Paper that other mod developers build on top of. If you install it expecting gameplay changes, you will not find any.

Instead, it bundles utilities that make writing Minecraft mods in Kotlin easier. These include an inventory GUI API, a Kotlin wrapper for Brigadier (the command system), a DSL for building complex Text objects, coroutine utilities, and kotlinx.serialization support for Minecraft classes. It also provides a scoreboard API, ItemStack helpers, an NBT builder, persistent data storage for chunks and entities, and serialization-based networking for packets.

Because it is a library, it typically appears as a dependency of other mods rather than something you interact with directly. If a mod you use lists Silk Mod as required, that mod relies on these APIs internally.
