Troubleshoot Lighting Issues and Flickering

Identify Lighting Problems

Common issues include uneven shadow banding, overly bright or dark areas, or flickering effects. These often occur in caves, near light sources, or during sunset.

Adjust Lighting Parameters

In shader settings, look for lighting or exposure controls. If areas appear too dark, increase ambient light or reduce shadow intensity. If lighting flickers or bands appear, try adjusting shadow softness—increasing it often eliminates harsh transitions. Check if there's a "lighting fix" or "cave lighting" option and enable it.

Check Compatibility Settings

Some lighting issues stem from shader-game interaction. Verify that your graphics driver is up to date. If problems persist in specific locations, try adjusting the shadow distance—sometimes shadows at extreme distances cause artifacts.

Reset if Needed

If adjustments don't help, reset shader settings to defaults and make small changes incrementally. This helps identify which setting causes the issue. Document what works for your system, as different hardware may require different configurations.
