Optimize Shader Performance on Low-End PCs
Identify Performance Bottlenecks
Open the shader menu and look for the most demanding features: shadows, reflections, and lighting effects. These are typically the biggest performance consumers.
Apply Conservative Settings
Start by reducing shadow distance significantly—this alone provides the largest performance gain. Lower shadow softness to improve speed further. Reduce water reflection quality and distance, or disable reflections entirely. Decrease overall lighting effect intensity if available.
Test and Iterate
Make one change at a time and observe frame rate changes. Play in different environments—bright areas, caves, and near water—to ensure consistent performance. If you still experience lag, consider disabling the most demanding feature entirely while keeping others enabled.
Balance Visuals and Performance
The shader is designed to run on older machines, so even with minimal settings you should see improvement over vanilla. Prioritize the features that matter most to you—many players prefer keeping shadows while disabling reflections, or vice versa.
