Adjust Shadow Quality and Intensity
Access Shader Settings
Open the shader options menu by pressing the designated key (usually found in your controls or by accessing the shader menu from the pause screen). Look for shadow-related sliders and toggles.
Configure Shadow Parameters
You'll find options to control:
- Shadow distance: How far shadows render from your character. Lower values improve performance on older machines.
- Shadow softness: Adjust how blurred or sharp shadow edges appear. Softer shadows look more natural but cost slightly more performance.
- Shadow intensity: Control how dark shadows become. Increase for more dramatic contrast, decrease for subtler lighting.
Fine-tune for Your Hardware
If you experience lag, reduce shadow distance first, then lower softness. If shadows look too harsh, increase softness before boosting intensity. Test changes in different lighting conditions—bright daylight, caves, and sunset—to see how adjustments affect your world.
Remember that shadow quality is one of the main performance factors in this shader, so balancing visual preference with frame rate is key.
