Improve Lighting in Dark Areas

Understand the Lighting System

Sildur's Basic enhances vanilla shadows and colors rather than replacing the core lighting engine. This means caves, forests, and night scenes get better contrast and depth, but light still spreads according to Minecraft's rules.

Enhance Cave and Underground Visibility

If caves feel too dark, check the ambient light or global brightness settings in shader options. Increasing these slightly will brighten shadowed areas without washing out the fantasy aesthetic. You can also adjust the contrast setting to make light sources stand out more against darkness.

Use Light Sources Effectively

Place torches, lanterns, and other light blocks strategically—the shader makes their glow more pronounced and realistic. Shadows cast by these lights will be more defined, creating better atmosphere. In caves, this means your torches illuminate surroundings more convincingly than in vanilla Minecraft.
