Adjust Shadow Quality and Performance

Access Shader Settings

Open the shader options menu while in-game by pressing the designated key (usually accessed through Video Settings > Shaders > Shader Options). Look for shadow-related sliders and toggles.

Optimize for Your Hardware

If you're experiencing frame drops, reduce shadow distance first—this has the biggest performance impact. Lower shadow resolution settings will also help older GPUs maintain smooth gameplay. The mod is designed to run well on low-end hardware, so even minimal settings should provide noticeable lighting improvements over vanilla.

If your framerate is stable, gradually increase shadow quality to find the sweet spot between visuals and performance. Adjust shadow softness to control how blurred or sharp shadows appear—softer shadows use fewer resources.

Fine-Tune Lighting

Experiment with brightness and contrast sliders to match your preference. The mod's fantasy-style lighting may feel different from vanilla at first; small adjustments help it feel natural in your world. Test changes in different biomes and times of day, as lighting effects vary across environments.
