How to Safely Loot a Trap Room Without Dying
Identify a Trap Room
Trap rooms look similar to treasure rooms but contain wooden loot chests that are rigged with explosives. Before opening any chest, look for signs of danger: unusual chest placement, lack of monster spawners nearby, or chests positioned in tight spaces.
Disarm and Loot Safely
Step 1: Approach the room with full health and protective gear. Bring a shield if possible.
Step 2: Do not open chests directly. Instead, use a ranged method: stand at maximum distance and use a bow or projectile to trigger the chest from afar.
Step 3: If you must open manually, place blocks around yourself to create a blast barrier. Position yourself behind stone brick walls or similar sturdy blocks.
Step 4: Open only one chest at a time.
Step 5: After an explosion, check for remaining loot on the ground before proceeding to the next chest.
Prevention
If you're uncertain about a room's safety, skip it entirely. Safe rooms and standard mob rooms offer reliable loot without explosive risks. Mark trap rooms on your map to avoid them on return visits.
