How to Parry Projectiles with a Shield in the Shield Parry Mod
Raising Your Shield at the Right Moment
The core mechanic is a timing window that opens the instant you raise your shield. When you right-click to block, a short parry window begins (two seconds by default). Any projectile that strikes your shield during this window is deflected instead of blocked normally, and your shield takes no durability damage from the parry.
To parry reliably:
1. Watch the incoming projectile — arrows, snowballs, ender pearls, blaze fireballs, dragon fireballs, and similar throwables all qualify.
2. Right-click to raise your shield just before the projectile reaches you, not long before. The window is short, so early blocking wastes it.
3. Keep the shield raised through the impact. Lowering it cancels the window.
4. Confirm the parry by watching the projectile bounce away and checking that your shield's durability bar did not drop.
Timing Tips
If you block too early, the window closes and the projectile simply hits your shield as a normal block (or hits you if the shield is down). Practice against skeleton arrows or snow golems to build muscle memory. Once the timing feels natural, you can parry in melee-range combat against blaze fireballs and similar threats.
