Set Up YAML Configuration Files for Your Mod Pack
Creating Your First Configuration File
ShatterLib uses YAML format for configuration, similar to how data packs work. Create a new .yml file in your mod's config directory. Use standard YAML syntax with proper indentation (spaces, not tabs).
Basic Structure
Start with a simple key-value setup:
`yaml
setting_name: value
nested_section:
subsetting: another_value
list_example:
- item_one
- item_two
`
ShatterLib will automatically validate your file structure when the game loads. If there are syntax errors, the mod will log warnings without crashing your game.
Loading Your Configuration
Place your YAML files in the designated config folder. ShatterLib scans and deserializes these files on startup, making them available to any companion mods that depend on this library. You can organize multiple configuration files by purpose—one for features, one for balance settings, etc.
Editing and Reloading
Modify your YAML files and restart your game to apply changes. The automatic data checks will verify your edits match the expected format before loading them into memory.
