Use Crying Obsidian in Your Custom Portal

Gather Crying Obsidian

Obtain Crying Obsidian blocks. These can be found in the Nether or crafted, depending on your world setup.

Mix Materials (Optional)

You can create portals using only Crying Obsidian, only regular Obsidian, or a combination of both. Mix them to create unique visual designs—the different block textures will be visible in your portal frame.

Build Your Frame

Construct your custom-shaped portal using Crying Obsidian blocks. The shape works exactly the same as with regular Obsidian—circles, triangles, irregular shapes, all work perfectly.

Activate the Portal

Use Flint and Steel or a Fire Charge on any Crying Obsidian block in your frame. The portal will activate and fill your custom shape with the portal effect, regardless of which Obsidian type you used.
