Build a Circular Portal

Plan Your Circle

Decide on a radius for your circular portal. Larger circles look more impressive but require more Obsidian. Sketch the circle outline using temporary blocks first to visualize the shape.

Place Obsidian Blocks

Replace your outline blocks with Obsidian (or Crying Obsidian). Work methodically around the circle, placing blocks to form a smooth circular frame. Don't worry about perfection—slight irregularities add character.

Fill the Interior

Unlike vanilla portals, you can leave the interior empty or partially filled. The portal effect will fill the entire circular area once activated.

Activate Your Portal

Use Flint and Steel or a Fire Charge on any Obsidian block in your circle. Watch as the purple portal effect fills your circular frame, creating an elegant gateway to the Nether.
