Create Custom Creature Shapes Using Data Packs and Resource Packs

Understanding Custom Shape Creation

The Shape Shifter Curse Mod supports custom creature shapes through data packs and resource packs. This lets you add entirely new transformation forms beyond the built-in creatures.

Setting Up Your Packs

Create a data pack to define the mechanics and properties of your custom creature—its abilities, weaknesses, and transformation requirements. Simultaneously, create a resource pack to provide the custom 3D model and walking animations that make your creature visually unique.

Defining Custom Properties

Your custom shape should include:

  • Unique abilities and powers
  • Specific weaknesses to balance gameplay
  • Custom walking and idle animations
  • Special items or drops associated with the form
  • Visual effects during transformation

Place both packs in your world folder and enable them. Test your custom creature by collecting the required items and triggering a transformation. Adjust animations, models, and mechanics as needed to achieve your desired result.
