Understand How Shadows Adapt to Different Items

Shadow Opacity Varies by Item Type

Shadow Drop doesn't apply a uniform shadow to every item. Instead, it intelligently adjusts shadow darkness based on the item's appearance. Transparent or light-colored items like glass receive lighter shadows, while opaque items get darker ones. This creates visual consistency.

Why Shadows Look Different

The mod analyzes each item's texture to determine appropriate shadow depth. Items with transparent pixels—like glass panes or certain decorative blocks—cast more subtle shadows so they don't appear too heavy. Solid, dark items cast more prominent shadows for better depth perception.

Offset Positioning

All shadows are offset by one pixel to the bottom and right of their item. This consistent offset creates the illusion that items float slightly above the slot background, giving your inventory a 3D appearance.

Shadow Cropping

Shadows are automatically cropped to fit perfectly within each item slot. This prevents shadows from bleeding into adjacent slots, maintaining a clean, organized look across your entire inventory.
