Adjust Shadows for Custom Resource Packs

Understand Slot Color Detection

Shadow Drop automatically detects the color of your inventory slot backgrounds and adjusts shadow darkness accordingly. However, if you use a resource pack that changes slot colors significantly, shadows may appear too dark or too light.

Locate the Configuration File

Find shadowdrop-client.toml in your mod config folder. Search for the slotBrColors setting—this controls how the mod interprets your inventory slot brightness.

Adjust the Setting

Modify the slotBrColors value to match your resource pack's slot appearance. If your slots are lighter than default, increase the value slightly. If they're darker, decrease it. The mod will recalculate shadow opacity based on this new reference.

Verify the Change

Restart Minecraft and open your inventory. Check that shadows now appear balanced—not washed out or overly dark. Experiment with small adjustments until shadows look natural against your custom slot colors.

If you switch resource packs frequently, you may need to readjust this setting each time.
