Locate and Edit Your Mod Configuration Files

Finding Your Config Files

Shadow Config Mod stores configuration files in your game's config folder. Navigate to .minecraft/config/ on your computer. You'll find files organized by mod name, typically in JSON, TOML, or YAML format depending on what each mod uses.

Editing Configuration Files Safely

Open config files with a plain text editor (Notepad++, VS Code, or similar). Do not use Word or rich-text editors, as they can corrupt the file format.

When you make changes:

1. Save the file carefully, preserving the original format (.json, .toml, or .yaml)

2. Restart your game or use /reload if your mod loader supports it

3. Shadow Config Mod will automatically validate your changes on startup

Understanding File Structure

Each setting is labeled with helpful comments explaining what it does. Look for descriptions above or beside each option. If a setting looks wrong after editing, Shadow Config Mod will attempt to fix it automatically rather than crashing your game.

Always back up your config folder before making major changes.
