Stop Mobs from Spawning in Specific Areas

Understanding Mob Caps

ServerCore Mod implements per-player mob caps and prevents overcrowding by limiting how many mobs of the same type can exist in one area. This stops mob farms from creating performance bottlenecks and eliminates lag spikes from uncontrolled spawning.

Check Your Current Mob Limits

1. Run /mobcaps to see the current per-player mob cap for each spawn group (animals, monsters, water creatures, etc.)

2. Identify problem areas using /statistics entities to find which mob types are causing the most lag

3. Review settings with /servercore settings | config to see breeding caps and spawn limits

Adjust Mob Behavior

The mod automatically enforces breeding caps to prevent farms from producing too many animals in one location. If a specific area has too many mobs:

  • Move your farm to a different chunk
  • Reduce the farm's collection efficiency
  • Let the dynamic performance system adjust caps automatically during high server load

Verify Changes

Run /mobcaps again after adjustments to confirm the spawn group limits have changed.
