Diagnose and Fix Random Lag Spikes

Identify the Lag Source

Random lag spikes usually come from entity processing, chunk ticking, or block entity updates. ServerCore Mod provides tools to pinpoint the cause.

Use Diagnostic Commands

1. Run /statistics entities to see which entity types consume the most resources

2. Run /statistics block-entities to identify problematic tile entities (hoppers, furnaces, etc.)

3. Check /servercore status to see current dynamic adjustments—if chunk-tick distance or mob caps are reduced, the server detected performance strain

Common Causes and Solutions

High entity count? Look for mob farms, villager halls, or animal breeding areas. Spread them out or reduce their size.

Block entity lag? Reduce hopper chains, furnace arrays, or redstone contraptions. The mod can't optimize these—you must redesign them.

Chunk ticking issues? The mod automatically adjusts chunk-tick distance during lag. If spikes persist, reduce active farms or redstone clocks.

Monitor Over Time

Run diagnostics periodically to catch new lag sources before they become severe. The mod's dynamic checks continuously adjust settings, but player-built farms may still need manual optimization.
