Manage Sleep Across Different Server Regions or Time Zones

The Time Zone Challenge

On servers with players across multiple time zones, some players sleep during day hours while others play at night. Server Sleep Mod helps by letting a percentage of players sleep rather than requiring unanimous agreement.

Strategy for Global Servers

1. Set a lower sleep percentage (25–40%) to accommodate players in different time zones. This way, night can progress even when some regions are in daytime

2. Communicate the threshold to your community so players understand when nights will skip

3. Encourage sleeping during off-peak hours: players in regions where it's nighttime can sleep, advancing the server for everyone

Balancing Fairness

  • Too low a percentage: Nights skip constantly, disrupting players who want to work at night
  • Too high a percentage: Players in minority time zones feel excluded
  • Sweet spot: Experiment with 30–50% depending on your player distribution

Pro Tip

Consider your server's primary active window. If most players are online during certain hours, set the percentage so that active players during off-peak times can still make progress without waiting for the entire global community.
