How to Use Searchables to Filter Items by Color and Shape

Understanding the Search Syntax

Searchables lets you narrow down item lists using key-value filters. The format is key:value, and you can stack multiple filters in one search bar by separating them with spaces. For example, typing color:red shows only items tagged with the red color property, while shape:square narrows to square-shaped items. Combining them like color:red shape:square returns only items matching both conditions.

Step-by-Step Filtering

1. Open any inventory or search interface that supports Searchables (usually a mod that depends on it, such as a storage or crafting mod).

2. Click into the search bar.

3. Type your first filter, for example color:blue. Watch the item list shrink as you type.

4. Add a second filter with a space, such as shape:round.

5. If the list is empty, one of your filters is too strict — remove the last one and try again.

6. Use the auto-complete dropdown that appears as you type to see which keys and values are actually available. This is the fastest way to learn what filters a given mod exposes.

Tips

Filter keys and values are defined by the mods using Searchables, so different mods may offer different options. Always trust the auto-complete suggestions over guessing — if a value does not appear in the dropdown, it likely does not exist for that item set.
