How to Combine Multiple Searchables Filters for Precise Results
The Stacking Rule
Every filter you add with a space acts as an AND condition. The result set is the intersection of all filters, meaning an item must satisfy every single one to appear. This is powerful but also easy to over-constrain.
Practical Workflow
1. Start broad. Type a single filter like color:green and confirm you get a reasonable number of results.
2. Add a second filter one at a time, checking the count after each addition. For example, add shape:round.
3. If the list becomes empty, remove the most recently added filter rather than starting over.
4. Continue adding filters until the list is small enough to scan visually.
5. If you need to broaden again, delete filters from the end of the search string — order does not matter for matching, but reading left to right makes editing easier.
Common Pitfalls
- Typos in a value will silently return nothing. Use auto-complete to avoid this.
- Some keys only exist on certain items. A filter that works for one mod's items may return nothing for another mod's items in the same interface.
- Mixing unrelated keys (for example a color filter with a shape filter on an item set that only defines one of them) will usually yield zero results.
When in doubt, reduce to one filter and rebuild.
