Choosing Between ScalableLux and Starlight for Your Modpack
ScalableLux builds on Starlight's rewrite of the light engine and adds further fixes plus optional parallelism. If you already run Starlight, you should not run both — they occupy the same role and will conflict.
What ScalableLux adds over Starlight
The core light-update performance is inherited, so on a typical single-player world the two feel similar. The differences show up in two places: additional bug fixes for edge-case lighting behaviour, and the optional parallel update mode. If you never enable parallelism, you are mostly getting the bug-fix layer on top of what Starlight already did.
Picking for your pack
Choose ScalableLux if you want the option of parallel lighting for heavy workloads, or if you have hit lighting bugs that Starlight alone did not resolve. Stick with Starlight if your pack is already stable, you do not pre-generate worlds, and you prefer the smaller, more conservative change. Either way, remove the other mod from your mods folder before launching — do not leave both installed hoping they stack. After switching, load an existing world and check a few lit interiors to confirm nothing regressed.
