Maintain Visual Clarity While Mining Underground
Understand Shader Behavior in Caves
Salicylic Shaders applies cinematic lighting globally, which can make caves darker and more atmospheric. This is intentional, but you can optimize for readability.
Adjust Ambient Lighting
Locate the ambient light or cave brightness setting in shader options. Increase ambient light levels to brighten shadowed underground areas without affecting outdoor visuals as dramatically. This ensures torches and lanterns remain your primary light source while maintaining visibility.
Use Torchlight Effectively
The shader enhances torch glow and light spreading. Place torches strategically to create pools of visibility. Torches appear more cinematic and cast softer shadows, making mining areas feel both atmospheric and functional.
Reduce Shadow Distance Underground
If caves feel too dark, temporarily lower shadow distance in your settings. Underground areas benefit from reduced shadow rendering since there's minimal sky contribution anyway.
Balance Mood and Function
Avoid over-brightening caves—the shader's dark aesthetic is a feature. Instead, use strategic lighting placement and torches to create safe work areas while preserving the immersive underground atmosphere.
