How to Disable Fire, Water, and Lava Animations in Rubidium Extra
If animated fire, flowing water, or bubbling lava is hurting your framerate, Rubidium Extra lets you switch these off individually without touching the rest of your graphics.
Finding the Animation Toggles
Open your video settings and look for the Rubidium Extra section (it appears alongside the standard Rubidium/Embeddium options). Inside, you'll find a group of animation controls covering fire, water, lava, and other animated blocks. Each has its own on/off switch, so you can disable just the ones that cost you the most performance.
Choosing What to Turn Off
- Fire: The biggest win in most scenes. Disabling it removes the flickering flame overlay on burning blocks and entities.
- Water: Stops the scrolling texture on flowing water. Still water stays visible, only the motion is frozen.
- Lava: Freezes the slow churn of lava surfaces. Useful in the Nether or near large lava lakes.
Toggle them one at a time and watch your FPS counter (enable it in the same settings menu if you haven't). If a scene still stutters, try disabling the remaining animations too. You can always re-enable them later; the settings save per profile, so nothing is permanent.
