Finding the Right Rename in the Anvil Without Guessing

The main pain point RP Renames solves is not knowing what string a resource pack wants. Here is how to search efficiently when a pack ships hundreds of entries.

Use the search field

Start typing any part of the name you remember — a keyword like a material, a color, or a theme word. The list filters as you type, so you do not need the full string. If you only remember that it was something about a blade, type that and scan the shortened results.

Narrow by what you are holding

RP Renames only shows renames that are relevant to the item in the anvil. If you have a sword in the slot, you will not be flooded with pickaxe or armor entries. Swap the item in the left slot to change which entries are offered.

When the list is empty

• Confirm the pack is actually enabled and sits above any pack that might override it.
• Check that the pack is a CIT/CEM pack at all — cosmetic-only packs with no rename triggers will show nothing.
• Some packs split entries across multiple files; if one category is missing, the pack author may simply not have made entries for that item type.

Once you spot the entry, click it rather than retyping — that guarantees the exact spelling and casing the pack expects.
